The negotiations I spoke of have been broken off, but were recently renewed, and I have now the satisfaction of reporting that the Premises have been purchased for the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars, and that the Hospital will be placed on a more respectable footing, and one more adapted to the wants of the Community.
A sum of £3000 was voted by Parliament to be expended on this account and has been included in the Estimates for the current year. This sum is very nearly represented by the amount in Dollars I have mentioned above.
I hope your approval of the measure, which is indeed simply giving effect to instructions received from the Secretary of State.
